Vivid Lacquer Swatches... Fairies Everywhere!

Hey lovelies! Quick swatch post tonight. I ordered some Vivid Lacquer polishes during the Black Friday sale, and I got two free minis with my order! I wanted to share swatches of two of the polishes I got. One of the minis was called Fairy Tale, and it's a medium grey jelly with a scattered holo effect.

This polish was pretty sheer. If I were to do it again, I would definitely layer this one over a grey or even white or black. It took about 4 coats to get it this opaque, partially because of my stained nails.

Speaking of stained nails, they also gave me trouble with this next polish - the amazing Fairy Bread!! This polish is absolutely gorgeous, and I got SO many compliments on it. It's a white base full of hexes in all different colors and sizes. The following swatches show 4 coats of Fairy Bread with Seche Vite topcoat.

See my gross yellow nail line showing through?? It drove me nuts! This polish could have been wearable in 3 or maybe even 2 coats if my nails weren't so badly stained. Next time I'll use a base coat of white to conserve polish. I've tried EVERYTHING to whiten my nails - I have a review planned soon of a new whitening product I found at Walmart, so stay tuned! :)

What do you think of these two? What Vivid Lacquer polishes do you own? I'd love to hear below! <3

Some of the polishes in this post were provided for review. This in no way affects my opinion of them. This post reflects my true and honest opinions. For more information, please see my Disclosure Statement.

WingDust Collections: Cotton Candy Kisses, He's Just Not That Mint-to You and Zambezi Sunset

Hey guys! Today I (finally) have my last WingDust post for you! It took me longer than I planned to get all the photos edited, because I just could not narrow it down. These last three are just as beautiful as the first few I showed you. WingDust has definitely become one of my favorite new indie brands that I've tried!

First up today is Cotton Candy Kisses. I didn't expect to like this one as much as I did, because I'm not a huge fan of pale pinks. But once I got this one on the nail, I discovered it's much more than that! It's got a gorgeous shimmer and tiny subtle glitters that show in certain angles. This is a perfect soft, girly shade of pink! The following photos show 3 coats of Cotton Candy Kisses with 1 coat of Seche Vite.

Next is He's Just Not That Mint-to You. Cute but long name! This polish is another one that has more than meets the eye. In the bottle, it just looks like minty green and aqua hexes, with some brown ones thrown in. But it turns out some of these are color-shifting and sort of translucent, which is awesome! This reminds me of mint chocolate chip ice cream!

This polish is packed full of glitter! I decided to try layering it over a couple different colors, white (Milani White on the Spot) and grey (China Glaze Elephant Walk). I did 2 thick coats of HJNTMY over these two base colors. It would look pretty with just one coat, but I wanted to get as full of coverage as possible for this look.

I noticed the brown glitters were more visible in certain lights/angles, which I thought was really cool. :)

Last, this one may be my favorite of ALL the WingDusts I've shown you. There's so much awesome in this polish, I don't even know where to start! Here's Zambezi Sunset.

Zambezi Sunset has an amazing shimmery coral pink base with orange, pink and gold hexes and bars. It really does look like a sunset! This is 2 coats of Zambezi Sunset with Seche Vite topcoat.

Lighting makes a real difference with this polish. Here is a similar angle first in shade, then in sun - you can really see how different it is! I think the base is really the star of this polish - the shimmer is SO incredible!

Here's a close-up of Zambezi Sunset on the nail. It speaks for itself. :)

It looks like Stephanie's Etsy shop is out of stock at the moment, but be sure to bookmark it for future reference, and follow her on Facebook for updates on restock information and announcements. :)

Pokemon Challenge: Normal Type

Hello, loves! Posting a little late with this one, but better late than never, right? This week's Pokemon theme was Normal type. I had a few different ideas for this one, but ultimately decided to go with Clefairy. This isn't a Pokemon I really like or, at all haha. But, last year when I was playing White, I ran into my first ever shiny! And it was a Clefairy! I have never gotten into all that crazy soft reset business or the different "methods" to somehow get shinies, and I really don't understand it at all. But, by pure luck, I actually got 2 on my White version - the Clefairy and a Pupitar. So anyway, I decided to do a Clefairy to honor my first shiny! :)

I painted a few different expressions that the Clefairy might be feeling! He's smiling, winking, and the last one is sticking his tongue out! My ring finger is a sort of abstract take on what his ears look like. I just thought it was pretty! I was inspired by my recent Sinful Colors purchases, and all but one of the polishes used here are Sinfuls. The brown is China Glaze Mahogany Magic. I used a few different sized striping brushes and dotting tools for the details.  Topped it off with 2 coats of Seche Vite to make sure everything was completely smooth.

What do you think of these? I wasn't super happy with how they came just didn't end up being my favorite - but everyone else came up with some really cool ideas! Go see :)

Let it Snow Challenge: Day 13 - Winter Ombre/Gradient

Hi everyone! Today I've got my Winter Ombre/Gradient for the Let it Snow Challenge. This one is sort of a 2-parter. I don't know if this is right or not, but I think of ombres and gradients as different things. And, though I do gradients all the time and LOVE them, I realized I have NEVER done an ombre!! So, I started out with a white - black ombre mani, inspired by the dreary winter weather here in Ohio lately. It's been so grey and overcast...really depressing weather!

I used all Sinful Colors for this mani, since I bought a bunch of new shades during the recent sale. Polishes from left to right are: Snow Me White, Cool Gray, Smokin, Ardoise, and Black on Black. I used 1 coat of Poshe over top.

I thought it was pretty, but my gradient addiction kicked in! I used the same colors and a makeup sponge to add a little something extra.

I think I liked the ombre better! Just because the last few greys are a bit too close in shade, and you can't really see the gradient. I really like my thumb and middle finger though. :)

Ugh, so sorry about the cuts on my pinky! Stress and dry skin have taken their toll!

Other than that, what do you think about this mani? Does this represent the current weather where you live?? Did you like it better as an ombre or gradient? I'd love to hear your thoughts below! <3

Random Swatch Spam! Dollish Polish and Daily Lacquer!

Hey guys! First I want to apologize for being so sporadic with posting. I've just started a new schedule at work where I work two midnights a week and then three of my usual afternoons. The switching back and forth has got me sleeping ALL the time. I can't seem to wake up before 1 or 2 pm and it's driving me nuts! After that, I feel like the day is totally wasted. Anyways, I will try to be better just as soon as I get myself on some kind of routine.
Tonight I've got a couple polishes I swatched over the last month or so. I didn't really have enough photos of these for a post on their own, so I put them together! These are 2 gorgeous wintry polishes that definitely deserve to be seen.
First up is Dollish Polish - You'll Shoot Yer Eye Out, Kid. I used this in my Winter Solstice nails - it is THE perfect polish to create a snowy effect for winter. I had to literally stop myself from using this in like, every mani for the Let it Snow Challenge I'm doing haha! I won this in a giveaway from the wonderful Julie from Wishes of a Blue Eyed Girl, and I'm SO glad I did - I love it!

You can really see how the color-shifting glitters glow in the shade! They are stunning in different lights.

For the most part, this formula was great, with one MAJOR exception - the snowflakes!!! Arrgghhh - they frustrated me so much! They are extremely heavy and they really do not want to come out. Even with "fishing", I had to fight them to even get a couple out for this mani! I tried everything, turning the bottle upside down for a while, rolling it, they just kept sinking. Even when I got one to the top, the brush couldn't grab it. Then, when you do get them out, they don't lay down on the nail because of the way a nail arches. The snowflakes are not flexible at all, so even with loads of topcoat, they keep their straightness and don't conform to the nail. All that said, I LOVE the polish for just the other glitters! I just use it as if there are no snowflakes in it, and I like it MUCH better that way!

Next up is Daily Lacquer - Buddy. NO issues with formula here. Maggy has perfected her formula, to the point where, even with how packed full of glitters and shapes this is, it glides on like butter. Not too thin, not too thick. Buddy is a shimmery green polish with gold hexes, shreds and stars. The following swatches are 3 coats of Buddy with no underwear, topped with 1 coat of Seche Vite.

I probably could have used another coat of Seche Vite, just to be sure all the points of the stars lay flat, but they didn't bother me at all. I LOVED the shimmer in this polish, it looks gorgeous in different lighting! This would be a great polish for St. Patrick's Day.

How do you like these two polishes? Do you own either one? Which is your favorite? I'd love to hear below <3
